Hola! How are you all doing? I’ve tried quite a few coloured eyeliners but never ended up trying a brown one. I decided to give it a go and bought the L.A. Girl Eyeliner Pencil in medium brown. Continue reading to know if the eyeliner worked for me or not.
Price: Rs.250 for 1.30gms
Packaging: The eyeliner comes in a pencil form, which needs to be sharpened from time to time. There is no outer packaging and just the eyeliner itself. The pencil’s top is colour coded, which makes it easy to identify in your makeup stash.
Colour: Believe it or not, the eyeliner comes in 22 shades! There are around 4-5 kinds of browns but I chose the shade medium brown. The shade stands true to its name and is a perfect brown. It is also completely matte, which I love!
Formulation: This is where the product disappointed me. It doesn’t glide on easily and needs to be dragged on your eyes. Even though it isn’t very difficult to work with, I’m sure you’ll find better brown pencils at this price in the market.
Pigmentation: The pencil is moderately pigmented. One swipe is enough to get the beautiful brown colour on your eyes but the formulation affects the pigmentation as well. The colour doesn’t show up well on the waterline, which is again disappointing if you planned to use it as a kajal.
Smudge proof and Waterproof: The pencil claims to be smudge proof but it isn’t. If you happen to rub your eyes even a little, the colour will come off right away. But looking at the positive side, it comes off completely and doesn’t leave you with raccoon eyes 😛 It is water resistant though! I rubbed it under water; it came off but not that easily.
Staying power: The eyeliner stays on for about 5-6 hours. It comes off gradually and doesn’t look messy. It does transfer a little onto my oily lids after 6-7 hours.
I expected the eyeliner to fair well if not amazingly, but it did not live up to my expectations. Although the shade is beautiful and matte, the formulation just doesn’t work for me. I end up using it half way through my lower lash line and plan on using it as an eyebrow pencil eventually.
Let us sum up the pros and cons now.
- Beautiful brown colour
- Completely matte
- Suitable for sensitive eyes
- Water resistant
- Well pigmented
- Available in 22 shades
- Doesn’t glide on easily
- Not smudge proof
- No ingredients list mentioned
- No free sharpener provided
- Will not work as a kajal
I’ll not recommend this eyeliner to you guys since I’m sure you can find better quality brown eyeliners at this price in the market.
Although their range of 22 shades tempts me to try some more of these, but the formulation just doesn’t work for me *headbang* Which brown eyeliner is your favourite? What do you prefer, brown or black? Comment below and let me know!
