Hola! Today I’m going to be talking about a new launch from Maybelline, their Lasting Drama Gel Pencils. These pencils come in nine shades and the shade that appealed the most to me is Striking Copper! I’ve to agree Lustrous Sapphire is a colour that stole my heart but I do have a similar shade from the Loreal Infallible range. So I decided to go ahead with Sriking Copper. Let us move on with the review now.
Price: Rs.500 for 1.10gms
Packaging: The product comes with an outer packaging, which contains all the necessary information. The pencil itself is colour coded which definitely helps to identify it. It is not a twist up kajal and hence there is quite a lot of product wastage. Sadly, the pencil does not come with a sharpener.
Colour: The shade striking copper is so different and unique! It is a beautiful copper shade with tiny bits of shimmer in it. I think this shade would flatter all skin tones and would be a great pick for weddings! It will look gorgeous as an eye shadow as well.
Formulation: The pencil is extremely soft and smooth. It glides on like a dream and there is absolutely no tugging or pulling whatsoever. Although, since it is so soft, it is a bit difficult to sharpen as well.
Pigmentation: This is the most pigmented pencil I’ve ever used! A single swipe is enough to get the true colour. I was amazed by the pigmentation when I used this pencil for the first time. It’s just brilliant.

Smudge proof and Waterproof: Once the pencil is set on your eyelids, it won’t budge! Since I’ve hooded eyes any kajal tends to eventually leave a line on my eyelids but nothing of that sort happened with this pencil. But the shimmer in this kajal, did smudge and get onto my eyelids. The pencil is certainly water resistant, but if you vigorously rub your eyes under water, it’ll obviously come off.
Lasting power: The pencil easily lasted on my eyelids for 10-12 hours! Since this particular shade contains shimmer, I couldn’t try it out on my waterline.

Let us now sum up the pros and cons:
Pros:
- Beautiful copper shade
- Highly pigmented
- Smooth Application
- Smudge proof
- Water resistant
- Long lasting
- Easily available
- Dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested
- No fragrance
- Suitable for sensitive eyes
Cons:
- On the expensive side
- Shimmer gets on the eyelids
- Product wastage
- No sharpener provided
Conclusion:
Although these pencils are on the expensive side, they’re totally worth it. The formulation and pigmentation is amazing. Do give these a shot if you love coloured pencils!
Have you tried any of these pencils? What do you think of this shade? Let me know all about it in the comments section below.

Great post! Oh, and I absolutely love the way you applied it x
Is it safe to use in the waterline, though? What with all the shimmers and all.
I’d love it if you’d take some time and check out my blog: https://macandmetallica.wordpress.com/

I wouldn’t recommend you to use this particular shade on the waterline, since it contains shimmer. You can definitely try out the other shades though!
Following you 🙂
